Description

Intermediate Cyphoma
Distribution: Florida, Texas; West Indies; Brazil; Bermuda. Size: 30 mm
Description: Color yellowish-white, polished; shape ovate, oblong, acuminate at both ends; sharper on anterior end than posterior end; sculpture smooth with irregular commarginal growth threads and 2 transverse ridges, one located anteriorly and the other slightly posterior of midregion; aperture somewhat narrow, broader at anterior end, narrowest at infolded posterior end, almost as long as shell; outer apertural lip thickened and curved inward; columella smooth without teeth; columella with single, somewhat obscure plait; anomphalous.
Habitat: Epifaunal on soft corals at depths from 0 to 128 m (420 ft).
