Description

Globular shell 25 mm in height and 24 mm in width, with obvious suture, low spire and very expanded last whorl; outer surface smooth, with dense growth lines; ground colour yellowish-white, with purple apex and longitudinally ranged purplish-brown flecks, epiderm yellowish-brown; aperture oval, covered by a thick calcarious operculum bearing a rib along its margin; whitely polished inner lip slightly curved; umbilicus nearly filled up by funicular pad, only leaving a small crevice. Distribution: Hainan Province of China; Japan; Eastern Africa. Ecology: Tropical; burrow in sand near the low-tidal level. [Seashells of China]
