Description

Distribution: Texas, Gulf of Mexico, Florida. Size: 3 mm
Description: Color of teleoconch whorls reddish-brown, protoconch white to pale yellow; shell fusiform, barrel shaped; sculpture of spiral beaded ribs attached by concave, rounded axial and spiral riblets, producing squarish inner spaces; 2 beaded, spiral ribs on postnuclear whorls; 3 beaded, spiral ribs on body whorl; body whorl with basal spiral cord or cords; protoconch whorls rounded and smooth; aperture subcircular; siphon abrupt. Habitat: Sandy bottoms at depths from 0 to 165 m (541 ft).
Remarks: Rare in Texas. Shells found in beach drift. Often confused with C. greenii. See
Ode (1989c); Redfern (2001).
