Description

The combination of loose coiling and thin blade-like costae sets this species apart from all the other species found in the eastern Atlantic. It reaches a maximum size of about 8mm and has been found at depths in excess of 1000m off Portugal and the Azores. It has about 6 teleoconch whorls which are separated and do not touch, with numerous peaked costae. The aperture is oval and the outer lip. There are 3 smooth protoconch whorls. We consider this species to be a broad example of a Cycloscala.
