Species in this group tend to be broadly pyramidal, with numerous costae and an open umbilicus. This species has been found intertidally and in shallow water, from the Gulf of Arabia to Natal, South Africa. It is a uniform light brown with a pale base, and with 21-36 white costae per whorl which are occasionally thickened. It attains a maximum size of about 11 mm and has about 5 teleoconch whorls. The aperture is oval and there are about 3 protoconch whorls. S. natalensis de Boury, mss, is this species.
