Description

7mm. High spired with a glassy protoconch of about 2.5 whorls. Oblique, slightly reflected ribs (about 20 on last whorl) interleaving at sutures, slightly hooked just below sutures; each rib about one third the width of smooth intervals between them. No umbilicus. White. Habitat: deep water. Distribution: Gulf of Oman.

Epitonium (Hyaloscala) calideum (Melvill & Standen, 1903) (Fig. 203) E. calidum luas been found in the Persian Gulf at a depth of 15 fathoms. It attains a maximum size of about 14mm. There are approximately 8 teleoconch whorls with about 20 thin erect costae per whorl. It is a relatively slender species. The costae are continuous and the interspaces are smooth. The suture is closed and the aperture is oval.
