Description

Epitonium (Papyriscala) artimi (Jousseaume, 1912) (Fig. 213) This species, which ranges from Aden to Perim and Djibouti, reaches a maximum size of about 7mm. It has been found in shallow water. While it is generally white in color, according to Jousseaume, it may be tinged with reddish brown. It is a fragile species which has 5-6 teleoconch whorls. There are about 25-30 thin low costae which are not peaked. The outer lip is thin and the aperture is oval. While this species can resemble E. emiliae, the latter species is brownish with a white base.
