Description

Epitonium (Parviscala) amicum (Jousseaume, 1894) (Fig. 218) While Jousseaume erected the genus Amiciscala for this species, we consider it to be a Parviscala. The type species of the subgenus Amiciscala has been found in shallow water from the Gulf of Aqaba to Aden. It reaches a maximum size of about 10mm. It is white, with about 6 convex teleoconch whorls. There are about 26 thin erect costae and about 10-12 raised spiral threads per whorl. The costae are slightly angled below the suture. The suture and umbilicus is closed. The aperture is oval. It should be compared to E. amiculum from South Africa.
