Description

Epitonium (Epitonium) adjunctum (Jousseaume, 1912) (Fig. 193) This species ranges from the Red Sea to Aden. It attains a maximum size of about 8mm. It is a white, highly polished species with at least 4 teleoconch whorls. There are about 9-10 thin erect costae per whorl which are slightly peaked. The suture and umbilicus are narrowly open. The aperture is almost round. While it resembles E. agitabilis, the interspaces are smooth and not spirally striate as they are in the latter species. The thin erect costae distinguish this species from E. fauroti which has strongly reflected costae.
