Malletia cf. dilatata (Philippi, 1844) Distribution: Georgia; Cuba; Texas. Size: 10 mm (5 in). DEEP WATER Description: Color yellowish-white; shape subquadrate, inflated; sculpture smooth; dentition on both sides of umbo, taxodont; exterior of shell slightly angled posteriorly; posterior ventral margin truncate; ligament external; resilifer absent. Habitat: Muddy bottoms. Previously recorded depth range 533 to 537 m (1748 to 1761 ft). Remarks: Listed as Malletia sp. A in 1965 by Pequegnat and James. Collected at 25°30′N, 95°00'W by dredging at a depth of approximately 3717 m (12,192 ft). See Abbott (1974); Coan et al. (2000).
