Bathyspinula tasmanica Knudsen, 1970 Shell small, 5.8 mm in length, 3.6 mm in height, thick, solid, inequilateral, covered with light yellowish periostracum, and unamented with regular concentric ribs; umbo situated slightly at anterior from the midpoint of the dorsal margin; acutely rounded anteriorly and rapidly narrowed and rostrated at the posterior end; antero-dorsal slightly straight and the posterior almost straight; an obtuse ridge running from the umbo to postero-ventral corner; a shallow groove running from the umbo to postero-vental margin, forming a shallow sinuation; hinge plate very thick, bearing 12- 13 teeth on both valves; ligament amphidetic; pallial sinus shallow and broad. Distribution: South China Sea; Tasman Sea. Ecology: Collected from a soft muddy bottom of 1 100 m. Vertical range is from 1 100-3 580 m.
