The specimens from four Antarctic Eltanin stations agree very well with Melvill and Standen's description and figure of Y. profundorum. The species is figured for comparison with other antarctic species of Yoldiella. This is a relatively equilateral shell with both anterior and posterior margins equally narrowly rounded with no marked rostrum. The hinge plate is moderately developed bearing seven anterior and six posterior teeth. Height/length ratios vary from 64-74 (mean 69).
