Shell large, quadrate; posterior end compressed, broadly truncate; posterodorsal slope recurved. Commarginal growth lines irregular. Periostracum dull to polished. Resilifer large. Length to 65 mm.
F. R. Bernard (1983) synonymized Multidentata multidentata (Khomenko, 1937) with this species (and thus Multidentata Krishtofovich, 1964, with Megayoldia), but Savitskii (1980) has shown that this Siberian fossil taxon actually belongs in the Malletiidae.
Low Arctic Ocean and circumboreal; northern Bering Sea (61.5°N) [UAM], south to off San Francisco Bay, California (37.7°N) [SBMNH]; in western Pacific south to Sagami, Japan; in 25 - 760 m. It is recorded as early as the Oligocene in western North America.
