Description

Shell length to 27 mm. Sculpture: fine radial riblets in bundles of 6-8, crossed by fine concentric lirae which produce fine clathrate sculpture on rib bundles, fading postero-dorsally. Colour: while, with zigzag patterns, anterior two thirds of shell usually dark brown; escutcheon brown; interior white, brown stained. Periostracum: lanceolate prickles set in the interstices of the riblets, thicker marginally. Habitat: sand, to 36 metres. Distribution: north Western Australia, Northern Territory, Torres Strait to central Queensland, Great Barrier Reef.
