Eulithidium thalassicola (Robertson, 1958) Turtlegrass Pheasant
Distribution: Texas, North Carolina to Florida to Brazil. Size: 3 to 7 mm.
Description: Color variegated with whitish spots with greenish-brown and/or darker thin axial bands; shape broadly ovate; sculpture smooth with fine, microscopic, irregular axial growth lines; body whorl about 3/4 length of shell; apex small; aperture broad and subcircular with parietal shield at posterior end of aperture; umbilicus narrow. Habitat: As the name implies, primarily on seagrass beds of Thalassia testidinum (turtle grass).
Synonyms: Turbo umbilicatus d'Orbigny, 1842; Tricolia thalassicola Robertson, 1958.
