Description

This species main characteristics are the continuous brown spiral whorls of the interspaces (very narrow, undulating, and without sculpture) on a dirty white ground, and the tubercles which are big and prominent. The lines are rather convex, the last one overcoming the half of the total height. There are about 10 solid axial ribs on the last whorl. External lip with varix and 5-6 internal small teeth. Protoconch globose made by a whorl adorned by about 20 striated spiral belts in the interspaces and, in the final part, by 4 axial ribs. The average measures reach 5 mm in height.

Distribution

It was recorded in Strait of Messina (Sicily - Italy) and Capo Passero (Sicily - Italy) and recently also in the Tuscan Archipelago (Italy), (Paolini, SIM News), but it was found in Dalmatia too. It prefers detrital bottoms at high hydrodynamics.
