Liostomia G. O. Sars, 1878: 205. Type species (by subsequent designation Monterosato 1884) Turbonilla clavula Lovén, 1846; Recent, Swedish West Coast, Europe. 32 Diagnosis. Small cylindrical shell, with truncated apex. Sculpture of indistinct incremental lines. Protoconch of type B. Obvious umbilicus. Columellar fold slight or absent. Remarks. Turbonilla clavula Lovén, 1846 has been misidentified by all later authors, and the genus is based on a misidentified species. See Warén (1991) for a full discussion of this problem. The designation of Rissoa eburnea Stimpson, 1851 by Dall & Bartsch 1904 as type species for Liostomia was due to the fact that the authors had overlooked Monterosato's designation.
Schander C. (1994). Twenty-eight new species of Pyramidellidae (Gastropoda, Heterobranchia) from West Africa
