Shell ovale biconic, not very thin, glossy. The 4 adult whorls are rather convex, somewhat shouldered; the apex consists of 2-2,5 whorls, moderately convex and smooth, the tip slightly inrolled; the transition to the adult stage is marked by several rather distant brephic axials. Sculpture with 8-9 narrow high axial ribs; these ribs are only slightly curved and clearly inclined to the right; they extend to the base of the shell as well as to the suture where they are somewhat narrower but not much lower; the spiral sculpture consisting of about 5 clearly marked striae at the lower end of the pillar only; the rest of the surface is smooth and shiny. Colour from light to dark brown; often a while spiral band can be detected somewhat below the upper suture, thus coinciding with the shoulder of the whorls; sometimes 1 or 2 other white spirals are present further down the whorl. Suture is clearly marked, not very deep, nearly straight. Mouth: somewhat contracted with nearly parallel edges, slightly less than half the total length. Outer lip is strengthened by a well developed varix at the outside; on the inside of the outer lip, starting from the lower side of the sinus until the canal, a ledge is present. Canal is short, rather wide, unnotched; inner lip smooth. Measurements: 4.0 - 4.5 mm x 2.0 - 2.3 mm; average: 4x2 mm.
