Description

Small, around 9mm in length, angled at 22 degrees to the spire, strongly sculptured. A dull brownish white with the costae and ridges a darker shade of brown. 14 attached whorls. Axial sculpture consists of about 15 strong costae, one or two of which will have been enlarged to form varices on each whorl. The spiral sculpture consists of 8-10 strong ridges which form nodules when passing over the costae. Basal ridge moderately developed with the sculpture on the base less strong than the sculpture above. Ranges from southern Florida to the south coast of Cuba in deep waters at depths of 65 to 265 fathoms. It is close to but differs from O. cania by being larger, with stronger axial costae and having the base of the body whorl sculptured with both spiral and axial lines. Axial lines can be seen on the nuclear whorls.
