Epitonium hyalinum: Length, 8 mm; diameter, 5 mm. Shell: loosely coiled; without a basal disk; deeply umbilicate; thin and hyaline. Spire: protoconch of two minute whorls; teleoconch of five convex whorls almost separate from one another, rapidly enlarging from the acute apex. Sculpture: sharp, well-defined obliquely ascending axial costae; interspaces smooth. Aperture: circular; outer lip reflected. Color: transparent, glassy, white. These mollusks have been found with the swimming sea anemone Boloceroides lilae in Kaneohe Bay, Oahu, but are apparently rare (Guinther, 1970). The species is distributed throughout the Indo-West Pacific. The Hawaiian shells are considered subspecifically distinct because of their small
size.
