Description

This species ranges from the Bay of Biscay to the western Mediterranean Sea and the Canary Islands and the Azores. It has been found in depths of 150 to 1300m and reaches a maximum size of about 4mm. It is shiny white in color with thin, blade-like costae which are not reflected. There is a peak on the costae about 1/3 of the distance below the suture. There is no spiral sculpture between the costae. It has about 4 teleoconch and 3 brownish protoconch whorls. The umbilicus is open. The aperture is oval.
This species can be separated from E. tryoni, a species with which it has been confused, by the absence of spiral sculpture.
