Morocco Moonsnail
Distribution: Texas, southeast Florida to Brazil. DEEP WATER
Size: 15 to 27 mm
Description: Color of nuclear whorls midnight blue when fresh, dull yellow when worn, with a lighter subsutural band, body whorl yellowish-gray; rows of blue-gray chevrons typical in fresh shells; umbilicus, callus, and columella are white; shape globose; sculpture smooth; spire somewhat elevated; callus does not fully overlap umbilicus; operculum smooth.
Habitat: Offshore along entire Texas coast. Found alive at depths from about 55 to 63 m (180 to 210 ft). Shells found at depths from 0 to 94 m (308 ft). Remarks: Rare species in Texas. See Ode (1982b).
