It is a species small in sizes, solid, conic in outline, whorls either not much convex or flat-sided, suture quite broad, caniculate. On last whorl there are 10-12 axial ribs wide and spaced not reaching the base but interrupting at the periphery of last whorl. Spiral sculpture is evident and on last whorl it is made by 5-6 little cords the two lower ones of which are broader and a little bit detached from the others. Some spiral belts are present at the base too. Mouth roundish in form, external lip thickened, internally it often presents one spot either brown or black in colour. Apex obtuse, often dark brown in colour. Colour pattern is really variable (some varietis: flavida, coccinella, atra, rufa, nivea, fasciata, have no taxonomic value): on a ground either light or brown in colour there are either spots or streaks darker, peripheral spiral little cords are often white in colour. There can be found monochromatic specimens too. This species is very similar to A. lanciae so that it is really hard separating these two entities that in the past were distinguished owing to their protoconch dark in colour and due to the peripheral little cords white in colour, characteristics that can be checked in both species. In our opinion consociella is larger in sizes, whorls are flatter-sided, it has a different spiral sculpture (more spaced as far as lanciae is concerned), it has axial ribs not reaching the base and suture caniculate (less broad as far as lanciae is concerned). Average measures of adult specimens reach 2.5-3 mm in height.

Habitat: it lives in the infralittoral zone on stiff substrata rich in vegetation. Distribution: it is found all over the Mediterranean. Common enough.
