Shell variable in its sizes, colour and solidity. General outline, as well as sculpture of teleconch are wholly similar to those of A. mamillata, with which it is often confused and from which it is recognizable mainly due to sizes of apex, which is smaller, and owing to protoconch which has a larger number of whorls (2-2.3 whorls) , moreover it has a more limited distribution. For comparison between the two protoconches see table page 154. Average measures of adult specimens reach 4 mm in height.

Habitat: it lives in the infralittoral zone, on hard substrata, feeding on small vegetable particles.
Distribution: it can be found along the Mediterranean coasts of Spain, France and along the littoral of former Jugoslavia.
