Shell solid and globose with convex whorls, the last one very developed, characteristic and easily recognizable for its spiral sculpture made by strong spiral lines and by very fine middle striae. However sometimes there are no lines: they are replaced by spiral striae only (F. kutschigianus Brusina, 1866). The aperture is semi-circular, as well as the operculum, with columella almost straight and external lip with denticulation. The protoconch, brown in colour, styliform, is made by abt. 2,5 whorls finely reticulated. In its growth stages its aspect does not change very much. In the juvenile specimens the strong spiral sculpture, marking this species, is quite defined. Dirty white or yellowish in colour. The average measures reach 4-5 mm in height.

All over the Mediterranean, but never common. This shell lives in the coast in a rocky habitat. Waren (1988) points out the discovery of specimens into the "trottoir" cavities, typical calcareous algae-reef contiguous to the rocky side.
