Description

DISTRIBUTION Martinique.
MATERIAL EXAMINED Station of Martinique: stn AD258, Macouba, N Pointe de Macouba, 22 m, spm 1.
DESCRIPTION Shell small, conical, sutures moderately impressed. Protoconch conical of 4.5 smooth convex whorls, color brownish, transparent. Teleoconch of 5.2 whorls with reticulate sculpture of 3 equal spiral cords crossed by weaker axial ribs, 18 on last whorl; beads at each intersection. A fourth beaded cord is emerging at the base of the last whorl from the insertion of the outer lip; border between columella and base highlighted by a very weak cord. Columella short and broad, obliquely truncated, with a surface crossed by thin crisp threads, columellar callus bordering a circular aperture; anal sulcus and siphonal canal well defined. Background color brownish, semitransparent; on the last whorls the area between 1st and 2nd spiral cord becomes colorless.
COMPARISON Cerithiopsis recourti n. sp. is compared with Cerithiopsis susieae Rolán & Krisberg, 2014 from Florida (USA), having a similar size and shape but a different color and a smaller protoconch. The smooth protoconch makes it easy to separate it from Cerithiopsis parvada Rolán, Espinosa & Fernández- Garcés, 2007.
ETYMOLOGY Named after Pierre Recourt, a skilled photographer of living micromolluscs and a participant in the MADIBENTHOS and KARUBENTHOS expeditions. TYPE MATERIAL Holotype (MNHN-IM-2000-35021) dim. 2.20 × 0.70 mm. Protoconch 0.45 × 0.23 mm. stn AD258. TYPE LOCALITY Caribbean: Martinique, Macouba, N Pointe de Macouba, 22 m.
Cecalupo A. & Perugia I. (2020). Report on the Cerithiopsidae from Guadeloupe, Martinique and French Guiana (Caenogastropoda, Triphoroidea).
