Etymology
The species is named after Rottnest Island, a location where a number of Austromitra species including this new species have been found in recent dredgings.
Discussion
This species is compared most closely to Austromitra diamantina n. sp. and Austromitra leeuwinensis n. sp. , the strong, round axial ribs and colour combination differentiate the species however.
