Shell small, ovate-elongate, smaller specimens pro-portionately shorter (100L: 75–80H: 46W), not par-ticularaly inflated, white, many specimens with fine sediment attached to ventral margin of shell, irregular faint co-marginal striations; umbo moderately large, anteriorly directed, incurved; anteroventral, ventral and postero-ventral shell margins form relatively smoothcurve,a nterio rmargin slightly flattened dorsal to mid-horizontal plane, meets antero-dorsal margin at faint angulation, antero-dorsal margin slightly concave, postero-dorsal margin straight as far as posterior adductor then slightly angled where it meets posterior margin dorsal to mid-horizontal line; lunule trapezoidal, margin very faintly incised; no escutcheon; ligament opisthodetic, elongate, external, further extended by posterior fusion layer; hinge plate of right valve with elongate, spoonshaped cardinal 1 at ventral margin of hinge plate anterior to umbo, cardinals 3a and 3b form continuous, elongate, inverted spoonshaped ridge centrally on hinge plate, anterior third (=3a) overlaps cardinal 1, anterodorsal margin somewhat thickened at outer edge, posteromargin thickened at inner edge, left hinge plate with elongate cardinal 2a at ventral edge but incurved at each end, cardinal 2b lies ventral to umbo, narrowly separate from 2a, interlocking between cardinals 1, 3a and 3b, cardinal 4 forms short ridge interlocking dorsal to cardinal 3b, dorsal margins of left valve lie dorsal to thickened postero-dorsal margin of right valve and ventral to thickened antero-dorsal margin.

K. tenina differs from other species described here by its more ovate shape, by the more angulate postero-dorsal shell margin, by the slender width of the shell and by the faintness of the concentric striations and the margin of the lunule. The mantle tentacles in K. tenina are larger and more closely spaced than in other species. There are also minute sensory papillae present.Judging by its position far posterior within the mantle cavity and adjacent to the inhalant aperture, it is possible that the heel may help with the extrusion of pseudofaces.
