Description

DISTRIBUTION: Along the antarctic continent, T. macmurdensis has been recorded from 49°E to 140°E (90-300 m), and from the Ross Sea in 18-752 m.
REMARKS: Hedley's sole spécimen of T. macmurdensis lacked most of the spire. The spécimens from the Ross Sea reported here match the holotype reasonably well, but also match .S'. trilirata Thiele. Powell (1958: 191) suggested that trilirata was possibly a synonym of macmurdensis and Arnaud (1972c: 126) synonymised the two. Powell pointed out that the only apparent différence between the two forms was the présence of two subsidiary basal spiral cords on macmurdensis. In the spécimens available no subsidiary basal spirals were présent in nine cases, while four had one. Arnaud's action therefore seems completely justified.
