Description

Saccella mauritiana (G. B. Sowerby I, 1833) Shell small, 7.3 mm in length, 4.2 mm in height. solid, thick, inflated, rounded anteriorly and pointed to the posterior end; sculptured with concentric growth lines, covered with yellowish periostracum; in most cases a weak ridge running from the umbo to the antero-ventral margin; hinge teeth 16-18 on the anterior series and 14-15 on the posterior series; lunule ill-developed; escutcheon lanceolate. Distribution: South China Sea(Xiamen as north limit). Ecology: Found on muddy bottom of shallow waters.
