Description

Elongate; posterior end narrow, pointed. Sculpture of sharp commarginal ribs. Periostracum shiny. Escutcheon broad, sharply demarcated. Length to 14 mm.
This Panamic species occurs as far north as southern California. It may be a larger size, having a more sharply produced posterior end, and in having more well-spaced commarginal sculpture on its umbones.
Santa Monica, California (34.0°N) [SBMNH], within the Golfo de California, to Bahia Sechura, Peru (5.6°S) (Olsson, 1961), in 4 -150 m. Recorded as early as the Pleistocene of Baja California.
