E. monnioti has been found in the eastern Atlantic Ocean in depths ranging from 3850-5100m and reaches a maximum size of about 4mm. The 3.5 loosely coiled teleoconch whorls give the shell a pyramidal outline. The color is white. There are about 30-35 serrated costae as well as about 15-17 raised spiral threads per whorl. The umbilicus is widely open and the coiling on the body whorl is completely open. The aperture is almost round, but somewhat angular at the base.
