Description

Epitonium (Perlucidiscala) lachrymulum (Jousseaume, 1912) (Fig. 223) Species in this group have thin blade-like costae and an open umbilicus. This one has been found in the Red Sea. It reaches 5mm. in size. It is shiny white, with about 20 thin costae per whorl which are not peaked. There are no spiral lines between the costae. It has about 4 teleoconch and about 3 protoconch whorls. While the suture is closed, the umbilicus is nar- rowly open and slit-like. The outer lip is thin and the aperture is oval.
