Description

The combination of axial ribs and spiral threads formed by rows of pits lead to this species being characterized as a Pliciscala. It can be found off Reunion Island and attains a maximum size of at least 8mm. There are approximately 8 strongly convex whorls with about 10 axial ribs per whorl. The suture is strongly crenulated. No varices are present. Microscopic spiral striae can be seen between the ribs. A strong basal cord is present. It is white in color, the outer lip is thickened and the aperture is oval. It can be distinguished from O. methoria by the strong basal ridge and the crenulated suture.
