Description

Nassarius tegula: Shell ovately conical, rather gibbous, smooth, blackish-ash, encircled with a yellowish band; spire rather short, sharp; whorls angled at the upper part, tubercled at the angle; aperture small, columella arched, with a thin spread callosity; lip thickly varicose. (Reeve.)

Distribution

Nassarius tegula: TYPE in Museum Cuming. Type locality, California or Lower California.
RANGE. San Francisco to San Diego, and Lower California to Panama. Fossil: Pleistocene—Santa Barbara, San Pedro, and San Diego, California.
