Description

Elongated trigonal, strongly sloping anteriorly, rounded posteriorly, white, with 22-34 scaly, nondivaricating radial ribs, interspaces smooth; interior white, margin crenulated by exterior ribs, animal with multiple rows of short pallial tentacles, and white body with varying degrees of orange to purplish red markings. North Carolina to Florida, Bermuda, Bahamas, West Indies, Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Central America, South America (to Brazil). Height 40 mm (to 56 mm). Formerly known as Lima lima Linnaeus, 1758 (Mediterranean Sea).
