Two forms of Boonea impressa (Say, 1822)
Distribution: New Jersey, Massachusetts; Florida, Texas; Mexico; Brazil. Size: 7 mm
Remarks: This species is parasitic on a variety of hosts, especially on Crassostrea virginica. B. impressa is typically found in bays on oyster reefs. Those found offshore on reefs and banks are indicative of Pleistocene-Holocene drowned coastal bays. Depth range 0 to 30 m (100 ft). Genus named for Texas conchologist Connie Boone. B. impressa displays two known forms, as seen in specimens 1 and 2. See Ode (1970c, 1993b); Ode and Speers (19720; Robertson (1978); Wise (1993). Synonym: Menestho impressa (Say, 1822).
