Peristernia leucothea: P. testa subpyramidali, ad apicem multum attenuata, anfractibus septem, longitudinaliter multicostalis, transversim liris tenuibus arete cingulatis omnind albescentibus, apertura effusa simplici, alba, labro intus sulcato, columella obscuri triplicata.
Long. 18,50 mm. Lat. 8 mm. Port Natal, S. Africa.
A curious and very neat little shell, of chaste device. I have found a specimen very nearly resembling my own, in a tablet in one of the drawers underneath the table cases in the National Collection, where it had been mounted years ago with a specimen of P. crocea, and the locality given Natal, and several specimens have recently been received from the same locality.

Axial ribs relatively weak, particularly in the southern part of the range, obsolete below the suture and usually on the base; generally 8 in number, occasionally 9 or 10. Spiral lirae weak, usually obsolete below the suture; there is no trace of a prominently developed peripheral lira such as occurs in forskalii s.s. Subsutural crenulations are weaker than in the latter.
Colour uniform white, inside and out, although when present the thin periostracum usually gives the shell a dirty cream appearance. Dimensions: 27,7 x 13 mm; 25 x 12,5 mm.
