Description

Shell shorter and broader than V. spongiarum Lamarck, and with more distinct sculpture, the concentric lines of growth being especially evident; colour, purplish-brown inside and out, is also much darker on all specimens examined; externally the colour pales towards the umbos. Length, usually about 28 mm., height 30 mm., section 9 mm. Type locality: Southern Australia.
Loc.: Gulf St. Vincent and Corny Point. S.W.A., S.A.
