Interchangeable taxa

Describing the new species, van Aartscn (2004) explains the differences with D. subrotunda Issel, 1869. Shell roundish in outline, valves grooved by fine growth striae only. The hinge consists in two divergent cardinal teeth: the anterior one in the left valve and the posterior one in the right valve are divided into two equal parts. There are no lateral teeth. The ligament is wholly internal. The max. known measures are abt. 10 mm in diametre. The juvenile specimens have a more stretched outline posteriorly.
