Description

Shell of rather small size for genus, adult size up to 5.0 mm; fusiform, bulbously elongate. Suture slightly impressed. Protoconch paucispiral, -1.25 smooth whorls. Teleoconch of four whorls. Axial sculpture consisting of numerous, close-set, very weak riblets. Spiral sculpture of basal cords, ventrally ranging to just below adapical end of columella. Outer lip slightly thickened, smooth, bearing only continuation of basal cords. Inner lip denticulate, with four weak, widely spaced denticles. Columellar callus thin, but slightly demarcated. Parietal callus very weak, almost obsolete. Columella smooth. Siphonal canal short, open, slightly recurved. Teleoconch whorls white in colour, semi-translucent. Protoconch white, semi-translucent. Aperture and columella white. Holotype height 4.8 mm.

Interchangeable taxa

This species is most similar to Mitrella trivialis, but differs in the more bulbous whorls, more rounded aperture, the axial sculpture and the slightly different protoconch.
