Shell size slightly smaller than typical for genus, adult size up to ca. 7.7 mm; fusiform, elongate. Suture slightly impressed. Protoconch multispiral, 3.5-3.75 smooth whorls. Teleoconch of ca. 4.5 whorls. Axial sculpture of strong axial ribs on first 2-2.5 whorls, diminishing in strength on subsequent whorls, obsolete on final two whorls. Spiral sculpture of basal cords, ventrally ranging to adapical end of columella. Outer lip thickened, with distinct rim, smooth, bearing only continuation of basal cords. Inner lip denticulate, with seven equally spaced denticles of equal size. Columellar callus thickened. Parietal callus thinner than columellar callus. Columella with row of merged denticles, forming small rim. Siphonal canal short, open, slightly recurved. This species is most similar to Mitrella cuspidata, but the latter differs in the lack of axial sculpture, the more shouldered whorls and the more elongate and lighter shell.
