Interchangeable taxa

This species is most similar to Mitrella charcoti, another species without basal cords, but differs in its more bulbous protoconch, less bulbous teleoconch whorls, larger size and faint axial sculpture on the early teleoconch whorls. Another closely related species is Mitrella simplex (Schepman, 1911), a species known only from Indonesian waters, which is less bulbous and possesses basal cords.
