DISTRIBUTION: Previously known only from the type locality, 80°W in 500 m, L liratula can now be recorded from the Ross Sea in 70-870 m.
REMARKS: The Ross Sea specimens match Pelseneer's figure and description of liratula. These shells, which reach a size of 1.8 x 1.5 mm as against the holotype of L. liratula (1.1 x 1.1 mm), have a general similarity to Submargarita notalis (Strebel) from South Georgia but have much finer spiral sculpture and a much less open umbilicus than S. notalis..
