Description

Pear-shaped shell solid, 43 mm in height and 34 mm in width, with deep suture and high spire, outer surface glossy, sculptured by dense growth lines, apex dark-grey, other parts yellowish-brown or yellowish-grey, aperture oval, purplish-grey interior, outer lip thin, in-ner lip slightly curved, with a small funicular pad; well developed umbilicus partly covered by inner lip, operculum dark-brown, with a nucleus at its inner side. Distribution: Along the Chinese coast. Ecology: Common; live on mud or sandy mud in the intertidal zone; perforating other shells to eat their flesh.
