The present new species resembles superficially Subarctic Pacific species, such as Plicifusus oceanodrome Dall, 1919, P. brunneus Dall, 1877 among others. However, such geographical distance will never link them with Surinam species together from viewpoint of propagative strategy of buccinids. The genotype of Plicifusus Dall 1902, P. kroyeri Moeller, 1842, from Greenland somewhat resembles this new species, but differs in having less prominent spiral cords, wider aperture and more attenuate canal.

Described by Okutani as Plicifusus jamarci:
Shell is solid and fusiform with a weakly twisted, open siphonal canal in front. Shell is chalky white but covered with rather thick, dirty brownish periostracum which was stripped off here and there. Protoconch is missing and remaining teleoconch whorls are about 6.5 in number. They are weakly inflated with impressed sutures, and are ornamented with axial ribs and spiral cords overriding the former. Axial ribs are weakly opisthocyrt and 21 in number on the penultimate whorl. On the body whorl axial ribs do not reach to the base and they are diminishing towards the aperture by diffusing with growth lines. Spiral cords are low but has angulated margins. The interspaces are subequal to the width of cords. They are about 10-12 in number on the penultimate whorl on which the adapical (upper) ones are much slenderer and crowded than abapical (lower) ones. The base is also ornamented with spaced spiral costae down to the neck counting about 20 in number. Siphonal fasciole is rather obsolete on the neck without umbilicus.
Aperture is siphonostomatous and lenticular in outline, white within. The outer lip is smooth but bears very weak, vestigial, minute crenulation on the anterior (lower) half. There is a weak constriction near the posterior corner forming an indistinct anal sulcus. The columellar lip is a gentle sigmoid and continuous to open, moderately long and slightly recurved canal. Inductura (callus) margining inner edge of the outer lip, outer edge of columellar lip and internal tip of the canal shows an oxidized silver color. Operculum is rhombic oval, horny, with the nucleus situated terminal, and somewhat smaller than the aperture. Holotype specimen: Shell length 83.0 mm, breadth 32.1 mm;
