Axial ribs prominent, extend from suture to suture, ca 15 on last whorl, usually split in two in places, crossed by narrow, close-set spiral ridges. Columella with one basal pleat. Outer lip smooth within. Uniform white to greyish-white with pinkish-white protoconch. 45 mm.
Distribution and habitat: Central Natal to Mozambique, in ca 280 m.
Note: Differs from Dolicholatirus bairstowi in its larger size, lighter colour, more prominent axial ribs and in the absence of ridges in the outer lip. Rare.
Types: Holotype NMSA S9991; type loc. off Durban 280 m.
