Description

This species has a moderately wide to wide shell (illustrated specimens: W/L = 0.32 to 0.37, S/L = 0.42 to 0.45) with a convex-sided spire having about 6 slightly convex whorls. Without magnification the shell appears smooth but magnification shows 4 convex spiral cords with rounded nodes on the first three whorls and narrow, closely spaced, axial riblets producing low, axially elongate nodes on the almost flat spiral cords. The aperture varies from increasing throughout the length to increasing rapidly at the anterior and remaining almost constant width for the remainder. The columella is straight with 4 significant, low, convex folds near the parietal wall and inconsequential folds below. The folds end near the outer edge of a moderately wide columellar callus. The fasciole is nearly smooth and bulges slightly. The shell color is white when the periostracum is removed thoroughly. With the periostracum intact, there is a very wide black to brown band on the body whorl and a similar narrower band subsuturally.
