Adult size 5.0 to 8.3 mm. Shell uniformly brown, yellowish brown, or white, rarely with a trace of pink, or variously mottled with colors ranging from brown to white. Protoconch 1.2—1.4 whorls, often retained in adults. Teleoconch with 3.7 to 5-1 whorls; whorls convex with distinct sutures. Spire convex, 44-49% of shell length. Axial ribs and spiral cords over entire teleoconch, with raised beads at intersections of ribs and cords; 19 to 28 axial ribs and 12 to 20 spiral cords on body whorl. On outer lip, axial ribs reduced in strength and sometimes more closely spaced than elsewhere on whorls. Outer
lip with 7—11 elongate denticles; apertural lirations lacking. Outer lip with small posterior sinus just below suture. Columella with four plications.
