Pandalosia is usually regarded as a synonym or subgenus of Schwartziella, but the shells are smaller, more narrow and elongate, and particularly glossy; apparently they lack the irregular microsculptural grooves present in Schwartziella. The basal fold is well-developed.

Type species Pandalosia excelsis, sp. nov.
Resembling Schwartziella in its sculpture of prominent, curved, and oblique axial ribs, but with elongated, rather delicate small shells, the varix very strong and greatly developed over the columella into a thickened plate, protoconchs small and glassy and sometimes subulate.
Pandalosia includes a well-defined group of small shells ranging throughout the tropical waters of Australia and into the South Pacific and Indian Oceans. The difference between the numerous species is not great, but the species seem remarkably constant and restricted in geographical range. Among shell characters for specific determination, the number of whorls, the number and size of the axial ribs and the details of the aperture are all important, but differences in the form and size of the protoconch will be found the most useful guide. None Of the Australian species seems to have been previously described.

Genus Pandalosia Laseron, 1956
Type species: Pandalosia excelsis Laseron, 1956
Diagnosis: Similar to Genus Schwartziella but the varix of the aperture, not entirely with opening at parietal wall. Some authors put it under Schwartziella as subgenus.
